Ubuntu 16.04 – ssh-related commands open a GUI window to ask me for my SSH key password

Whenever I use commands like ssh user@server on the command line, I am not asked directly in the command line for my ssh key password, but in a new window (GUI). However, if I execute eval $(ssh-agent) before I execute the SSH command, I am asked directly in the terminal (which is the behaviour that I assume to be normal and that I expect).

What can I do to avoid having to execute eval $(ssh-agent) every time? I know that it was not always like that, but I do not really remember what I have changed.
